Jim Mundy

In May of 2008, the Board announced the appointment of Jim Mundy as Executive Director. Jim was most recently the Director of Marketing and Communications for the United Way of Windsor-Essex where he launched a new brand identity for the organization and participated in a fund raising campaign that raised $6.7 million.

Jim brings to Alpha-1 Canada extensive knowledge in government processes and national contacts having worked for 14 years for the Government of Ontario in various senior policy development and communications roles.

Additionally, as Director of Corporate Communications for Canada's largest casino, Jim was responsible for developing and administering an award winning philanthropic program.

Jim is committed to continuing the process of building an organization, indeed a family, that leads in being responsive to, and respectful of, the needs of the Canadian Alpha-1 Community, as well as a competent voice for its needs.

Jim has identified his first major goal as bridging the gap between information available and information communicated by increasing and strengthening the connections between the Alpha-1 patient community and the medical community.

In December 2008, Jim was appointed to the board of directors of the Canadian Organization for Rare Disorders (CORD).
